The National Service of Health and Agrifood Quality (SENASA) has partnered with Better World Manufacturing Inc. to introduce the Wing Trap as part of its integrated insect pest management strategy across Argentina. This specialized trap is designed to target and capture flying insect pests, which are a common threat to many agricultural sectors. By using the Wing Trap, SENASA can efficiently monitor pest populations and reduce crop damage from airborne insects, especially in sensitive crops like fruits and vegetables. The trap's innovative design allows for precise insect pest tracking and early intervention, supporting sustainable farming practices and reducing the need for harmful insect pesticides, ensuring healthier crops and a safer environment.
Wing Trap
The Wing Trap is designed to allow adjustment to maximize trap performance for the behavioral patterns of different insects. The trap can be used with short spacer bars between top and bottom to allow full plume flow from all trap sides for most trapping programs. For insect pests such as the red-banded leafroller and codling moth, the spacer bars can be omitted, and the bottom end folded down to deflect the pheromone plume downward. The Wing Trap has a replaceable, sticky paperboard bottom with a grid pattern to aid in counting the trapped insects. It can be changed as needed when it becomes filled with insects or dirt. This is an ideal trap for general monitoring programs—much data is available using this style trap for monitoring vegetable, fruit, and nut crops as well as for stored products.
