DIAPHORINA CITRI
The Diaphorina citri (Asian citrus psyllid) lure is used to attract and trap this pest, which spreads citrus greening disease (Huanglongbing). The lure typically contains a blend of host plant volatiles and pheromones that attract adult psyllids.
▪ These lures are used in traps to monitor and manage psyllid populations. The traps help detect early infestations and reduce the spread of the disease in citrus orchards. The lures need to be replaced regularly for effective monitoring.
▪ Wing Traps: These traps have a similar design to pheromone traps but may include a combination of visual and chemical attractants to capture the psyllids more efficiently.
▪ Yellow Sticky Traps: These are the most widely used traps. The yellow color attracts the psyllids, and the sticky surface captures them. They are placed in orchards to monitor psyllid populations.
